In line with the commitment of the country and its leadership to support innovation and innovators, the Fujairah Finance Department and e-Government have launched an innovation hackathon at the University of Fujairah, as a part of the UAE 2015 innovation week activities. Joined by students from different universities, the hackathon aims to promote the use of innovative technologies to develop practical applications that serve the community.
Managing Director of the University of Fujairah Refaat Khalaf, Academic Director of the Fujairah University Prof. Mansour Ibrahim, Prof. Hatem Al-Qudah of Ajman University College of Science and Technology, and IT Officer of Fujairah Finance Department Al Sayed Al-Shami have taken part in the event.
It was also attended by Eng. Ahmed Al-Shami, Eng. Somaya Essam and Eng. Fahad Saleh of the e-Government, IT Officer of the Fujairah Emiri Court Eng. Ayesha Al Balushi, Manager of Fujairah Science Club Eng. Khalid Al Fazari and a group of IT experts and professionals.
A hackathon is a design sprint-like event in which computer programmers and others involved in software development collaborate intensively and innovatively on software projects.
In line with the commitment made by the country and its leadership to support innovation and encourage the innovators to serve their society, the Fujairah Finance Department and e-Government launched an innovation hackathon at the Higher Colleges of Technology (Fujairah Women's Campus), as part of the UAE 2015 innovation week activities from 22 to 28 November 2015.
Attended by more than 25 departments, the hackathon aims at promoting the use of innovative technologies to develop practical applications that serve the community and the government work. The information technology specialists at the Fujairah government departments will present the results of the hakathon on the innovation market on Saturday 28-11-2015.
The event highlights a number of proposed projects such as the "Fujairah Innovates" application, air traffic control and many other projects.
The event has been opened by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, Director of Fujairah e-Government, HE Ali Mustafa Mohammed, Director of Fujairah Finance Department and a large group of information systems geeks and experts, developers and private sector technicians took part in the event.
A hackathon is an event in which computer programmers and others involved in software development, including graphic designers, interface designers, project managers, and others, collaborate intensively on software projects.
The five-day event that should be wrapped up on Thursday 26/11/2015, will be joined by employees of government departments, including the e-Government, the Finance Department, Fujairah Emiri Court, Fujairah Municipality, Fujairah Culture & Media Authority, the Statistics Centre, the Human Resources Department, Dibba Municipality, several other government entities as well as the National Bank of Fujairah.

3- Fujairah National Resources Corporation.
4- Fujairah Municipality.
5- National Bank of Fujairah.


On the sidelines of the Smart Government Exhibition & Conference 2015, to be wrapped up today at the Dubai World Trade Center, the government of Fujairah has shown a group of its smart applications.
The transformation into a smart government is the main goal of all Fujairah government departments. The smart government aims to provide businesses and individuals of Fujairah community with e-government services.
Fujairah e-Government leads and supervises implementation of the e-transformation process, in cooperation with all entities and departments of Fujairah Government. The good results achieved by the Government of Fujairah are attributed to the joint efforts of all government departments. The Government of Fujairah offers a variety of services to the public and employees of governmental bodies. Among the most important government e-services is the smart application of the Free Zone Authority (Fujairah FZE); an informative application that provides investors of the Authority with services as well as information/ news about the Authority to the public.
The government of Fujairah has also shown the Finance Department's "Smart Tender" application, offering services to the business sector such as registration of businesses in the government suppliers register and managing the e-procurement processes.
Tasdeed Prepaid Card, a system to collect the governmental proceeds through smart cards launched by the Government of Fujairah in cooperation with the emirate's e-Government department and the National Bank of Fujairah, was highlighted.
The Fujairah e-Government Department presented the "M Fujairah" smart application, an all-in-one platform for applications and services of the local and federal government as well as other information about the emirate.
During the event, the Rukhsati Application, made to complete all economic licenses without the need to visit the municipality offices, and the smart FUJAIRAH application that serves citizens who deal with municipality, were shown.
Other services were also shown on the sidelines of the conference; including the "Wean" service; a smart addressing guide for Fujairah, the Port of Fujairah's application (BOF) that offers various services to customers (such as issuing entry permits, etc.), and Labaik application of the Department of Natural Resources.
